Ohio: A bill is considered that ignores safety and keeps gun stores open during an emergency
A fast moving bill is before the Senate Government Oversight and Reform Committee today (Sep 16). It ties government officials hands from closing gun stores during an emergency. This includes a pandemic. A gun store, just like any other type of store, should close during an emergency.

Ohio: Committee to consider guns for teachers with little training
On Tuesday, September 1, the Senate Government Oversight and Reform Committee will hear a bill to reduce gun training for teachers and other school employees who carry guns into the school. Once again, the NRA shows no concern for the safety of children exposed the risks of guns.
The Bill:
- SB 317 allows any school employee who can legally carry a concealed weapon to do so in school. It eliminates the need for additional training beyond the standard 8 hours.
Action
Please call the office of your Ohio State Senator. Urge the Senator to oppose SB 317 which is before the Senate Government Oversight and Reform Committee. School children should not be at risk of employees with limited training who have guns in the school.

Ohio: Hearing (Tuesday 9/17/2019) on many gun issues
The Ohio Government Oversight Committee will be meeting tomorrow, 9/17 at 3:15 pm in the Ohio State House. Numerous gun related bills will be discussed. This is an opportunity for visibility and advocacy for gun violence prevention.
The Bills
- SB62 would restrict bump stock type of items that allow a semi-automatic weapon to be turned into an automatic weapon. 👍
- SB63 would require universal background checks by requiring all gun sales go through a firearms dealer. 👍
- SB64 would raise the minimum age to purchase a firearm to 21. 👍
- SB65 would require gun show sales go through a licensed firearms dealer. 👍
- SB182 would also raise the minimum age to purchase a firearm to 21. 👍
- SB183 would also require firearm sales go through a firearms dealer. 👍
- SB184 would allow an extreme risk protection orders process so that family and law enforcement officials could remove firearms from a dangerous person.👍
- HB178 would allow carrying of guns with no permit. 👎
