After Governor Cooper vetoed House Bill 652, the NRA attempted to override the veto. They failed to get the 2/3 majority needed. This is great news for Democrats and gun violence prevention people in North Carolina.

North Carolina: The Governor vetoes allowing guns in churches
Congratulations to those who contacted the Governor urging him to veto this bill. He refused to sign it, so the bill doesn’t pass.

North Carolina: Bill allowing guns in churches is with the Governor
A bill to allow concealed handgun permit owners to bring their guns into church passed the legislature this past week. It now goes to Governor Cooper for his signature.
The NRA’s strategy to fight gun safety measures
The North Carolina gun groups have not urged their members to call the Governor’s office on this bill. Since he is a Democrat and in favor of gun safety, he probably will veto the bill. Gun groups are probably waiting until after his veto to advocate for an override.
