Yesterday, the Massachusetts Coalition to Prevent Gun Violence urged their members to call or email their state Senator. The Coalition set a top priority this year of increasing state funding for YouthWorks. This program targets low wage families in cities to help teens get the skills and experience they need for employment.
At this time of year, the legislature thinks about budget line items. Since first added to the budget several years ago, the YouthWorks line item lost ground to inflation. The Coalition requested citizens contact their state Senator and urge support for increasing budget funding of line item 7002-0012 to $16 million.
A quick phone call is very effective. Please call or email the office of your state Senator. Ask for an increase in funding of line item 7002-0012 to $16 million to support YouthWorks.
