Private sale restrictions overrides veto
- SB208/HB4 passed by an override of Governor’s veto. It bans the private sale or loan of long guns, such as assault weapons, without first going through a background check.
Passage of this bill is a victory for gun violence prevention enthusiasts. Republican Governor Larry Hogan vetoed the bill. However, this week, legislature the sensibly minded Democratic legislature overroad his veto and passed the bill. The new background check requirement begins in 30 days.

The Maryland State Senate approved a bill to allow those who never touched a gun before, to carry guns before they get trained. What is the hurry? Should we allow pilots to fly before they get trained too?
The Maryland House of Representatives passed the bill on January 31. It now moves on to the House Judiciary Committee for consideration.

The Maryland Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee approved a bill to allow those who never touched a gun before, to carry guns before they get trained. What is the hurry? Should we allow pilots to fly before they get trained too?
The bill passed committee and is expected to be before the full Senate soon. As soon as the NRA notifies their members, we will post a message at the same time to oppose this bill.
