Legislature could override Governor’s veto of an NRA bill

June 27, 2021

  • SB 118, vetoed by the Governor. It decreases the requirement to carry a handgun license by amazingly just eliminating the requirement all together. This follows a pattern of legislation in many other states that simply want to make it easier on gun owners to bring their loaded guns where ever they would like. 👎dislike

This bill passed the legislature and Governor Edwards vetoed it last week. This is great news for gun violence prevention in Louisiana. However, the NRA urged their members of the importance of contacting their legislators. The bill could be voted on again. If enough legislators support it, they could override the Governor’s veto. So, this is the time to offset the power of the NRA and their members by contacting your lawmakers and ask opposition to SB 118. You can find all your representatives at Common Cause.
