Both gun safety bills passed the legislature and are now before the Governor for final signature. The NRA asked their members to contact the Governor. All gun violence prevention supporters, the Governor needs your support to offset the power of the NRA to disrupt gun safety measures. Please contact Governor David Ige’s office. Two violence prevention bills to get Senate votes this week

Both bills were approved by committees this week for a vote by the full Senate. This is the time for gun violence prevention supporters to contact their State Senator. Ask for support of HB 31 and HB 1366. You can find all your representatives at Common Cause.
Three gun bills before Senate

- SB 301 is before the full Senate. It restricts magazine capacity to 10 rounds of ammunition. 👍like
- SB 307 is before the full Senate. It restricts gun sales to those that are less than 50 caliber. A 50 caliber gun is a military style assault weapon. 👍like
- HB 1366 passed the house and is before the full Senate. It bans possession of ghost guns. Currently, they are banned from being sold, but their is no ban on possession. 👍like
All three of these bills passed out of committee and are before the Senate for a vote next week. The NRA asked their members to contact their State Senator. We should do the same; however, please ask them to support SB 301, SB 307 and HB 1366 to keep Hawaii as one of the safest states in the country. You can find all your representatives at Common Cause.

- HB 31 Recently heard and passed by The House Committee on Judiciary and Hawaii Affairs committee. It raises the age from 16 to 18 when guns need to be locked up in the household. 👍like
- HB 534 is with the House Committee on Judiciary & Hawaiian Affairs . It allows employees to shoot other employees if they feel threatened. Called Stand Your Ground, it allows the shooting of someone rather than attempting a retreat.👎 Dislike

This week, the Senate Committee on Judiciary will consider SB 307. The House Committee on Judiciary and Hawaii Affairs will consider HB 1366 and HB 31. The Senate Committee on Judiciary will consider SB 301.
The NRA encouraged their members to submit testimony on these bills. Gun control supporters can also submit testimony at the legislative website to offset the power of the NRA.

This attempt to introduce Hawaii to the NRA’s primary type of legislation, this bill introduces justified killing to the workplace. The NRA alerted their members today to contact the House Committee on Pandemic and Disaster Preparedness and submit testimony. You can offset their power by doing the same here.
