Hawaii, one of the safest states to live in and having among the best gun violence prevention laws, added to their safety measures with two new gun safety laws. Both become law after Governor Ige approved of the bills by not vetoing them.

Hawaii: Legislature adjourns passing two bills on to the Governor
Two gun related bills managed to pass the legislature this year. The first bans ghost guns or homemade guns. The second sets a penalty for removing guns from Hawaii without approval. The bills that unfortunately failed limited the magazine capacity of assault weapons to ten rounds and required proof of needing ammunition for a particular weapon registered.

Hawaii: Senate Committee hearing this Thursday on gun bills
Generally, committee hears are scheduled at the last minute. This Thursday, March 12th, the Senate Committee on Public Safety, Intergovernmental, and Military Affairs will hear three gun violence prevention bills. The meeting is at 1:30PM in Conference Room 229.

This past week, three-gun violence prevention bills passed the House and two were approved by the Senate Judiciary Committee. I will continue to report on progress with these bills.

Hawaii: Senate Judiciary Committee taking a vote on gun control
On February 27, the Hawaii Senate Judiciary Committee is scheduled to vote on two-gun safety measures. It will not be an open hearing.

Hawaii: Full House to vote February 27th on three-gun control bills
The Hawaii Full House of Representatives may vote on Thursday, February 27, on three good gun violence prevention bills. Hawaii has great gun control laws and is usually the safest in the country. These bills will make it even safer.

Hawaii: Ammunition magazine restriction bill before the full House
At any time now, Hawaii State Representative will vote on a bill to limit the capacity of magazine cartridges to ten rounds. Why anyone in Hawaii needs more than ten rounds in an assault weapon is hard to figure out.
The NRA asked all members to contact their State Representative. Gun violence prevention citizens should also make the contacts, but ask for support of this bill.
