The Florida Legislative 2020 session ended last Friday (Mar 20). Then, on Tuesday (Mar 24), Marion Hammer sent out a message that prided herself and the NRA for killing over 100 gun control bills this year. Marion Hammer is a past President of the NRA. She still maintains extensive NRA power, especially in Florida.
Following that, the next day, Wednesday (Mar 25), she begged members to contribute money to the NRA because “We worked hard and spared no expense to protect your rights.” She specifically pointed out SB-7028, a background check bill that made some progress in committee.
Look at this quote as evidence of NRA desperation for money:
The Second Amendment protects Freedom. Lose your gun rights and you have no way to protect Freedom. Lose the means to protect Freedom and you are no longer Free. PLEASE, do it for WAYNE, do if for ME, do it for YOU, do it for AMERICA — DONATE TODAY.
Also, in the alert was a nasty description of those who promote gun safety. Politicians often get accused of not working together and accomplishing little. Blame is given to both parties equally. If you blame both parties, show me some Democratic rhetoric like this quote from Marion Hammer, an NRA leader and powerful lobbyist who supports Republicans:
Enemies of NRA, enemies of the Second Amendment, enemies of Freedom are well funded by millionaire and billionaire zealots who seem to hate all we stand for and are willing to spend untold amounts of their millions and billions to destroy NRA and the Second Amendment.
- SB-7028 would have required all gun sales at a gun show pass a background check. Private sales outside of a gun show, would be checked differently. The seller would ask the buyer some questions and fill out a form. The form would be notarized and kept by the seller in case the weapon was used in a crime. 👍 Like

Florida: Unusual for four Republicans to vote for gun violence prevention
Marion Hammer, the former NRA President who is the NRA’s chief lobbyist in Florida, is upset. Four Republicans on the Senate Infrastructure and Security Committee approved the gun safety measure. She called these Republicans RINOs (Republican in Name Only).
Hammer asked, “Why are Senate Republicans doing [Michael Bloomberg’s] bidding? You can ask them:” Then she gave the emails of the four Republicans. This was so gun proponents can express their anger.

Gun control supporters can support the three Republicans on the committee who voted for gun safety reform. They certainly would appreciate the support.
