Connecticut: Early opposition to an ammunition tax

The NRA is fighting early against a bill to tax ammunition by 50%. The bill has only just been assigned to the Joint Committee on Finance, Revenue and Bonding. It is early, yet the NRA is fighting already. They’ve asked their members to contact the committee about the bill.

Concerned citizens understand the cost to society of gun violence. A tax would be a slight offset to the extreme costs. For advocates for controlling gun violence, this is a chance to offset NRA members.

The Bill

👍House Bill 5700 would institute a tax of 50% on all ammunition sales.

Please make a “quick call” to the Joint Committee on Finance, Revenue and Bonding (860) 240‑0460. Ask to have your opinion registered with the committee in support of H.B. 5700 to help offset the cost of gun violence.
