Connecticut: Governor Lamont chooses to defy gun safety logic

Thoughts and Prayers

Democratic Governor Ned Lamont designated gun stores as essential during this time of emergency. It is unusual for a Democratic Governor to allow the potential panic of gun fanatics to further build their arsenal allowing them to better shoot their neighbors if necessary.

NRA strategy

The pro-gun group is using the power of their members making them aware of politicians who protect the proliferation of guns during a state of emergency. So, they are thanking the Governor:

Your NRA would like to thank Gov. Lamont for upholding the right of law-abiding citizens to defend themselves and their loved ones

Connecticut: Public hearing Feb 27 on increasing ammunition taxes

On Thursday, Feb 27th, the Connecticut Finance, Revenue, and Bonding Committee is holding a hearing on a bill to increase the tax on ammunition. An increase would no doubt, deter gun violence in Connecticut, a large expense to citizens who do not choose to shot guns.

The Pro-gun Response

The NRA is planning a rally before the hearing from 10 am to 12 pm. They will hand out tee shirts to the first 50 NRA members to sign up to testify.

The Bill

  • House Bill 5040 adds a 35% percent excise tax to ammunition purchases in Connecticut. 👍

Please email the office The Connecticut Finance, Revenue, and Bonding Committee, (860) 240‑0460. Ask the committee to resist NRA pressure and support HB 5040 to increase the tax on ammunition. By some estimates, the cost of gun violence is $229 billion a year. More of this burden needs to be shouldered by pro-gun fanatics. If possible, please attend the meeting as well.
