  • AB 1223 is scheduled for a hearing. It requires a fee be charged to purchase a gun or ammunition. The proliferation of guns cost society for things like health care and prisons. A $25 is a reimbursement for a small portion of these costs. 👍 like

Placed on the suspense file means the bills are tabled for now. They could be brought up later in the year.


Three gun safety bills to be heard in committees this week

  • AB 1237, committee hearing scheduled. It requires that California Department of Justice accumulate data and supply it to UC Gun Violence Research Center at UC Davis. This data can be used to research legislation to prevent gun violence. 👍 like

The Assembly Public Safety Committee is scheduled to meet on both of these bills on April 6. The NRA asked their members to contact the committee. To offset the power of the NRA to pass unsafe gun laws, this is an excellent time to contact the committee or your State Assembly person. Ask for support of AB 311 and AB 1223.
