Two unsafe gun bills to be heard in committees tomorrow

- SB 458 is active in committee. It allows all gun businesses to stay open during a declared emergency. They get special treatment that no other business gets. This during a time when panic and mayhem could be occurring. 👎dislike
- HB 2793 is active in committee. It allows none residents easily be allowed to carry guns based on the laws of their own state, which could be minimal. 👎dislike

The bill passed the Senate Judiciary Committee and now is ready for a vote by the full State Senate. Then NRA urged their members to contact their State Senator. The NRA voiced frustration that this bill is held up in committee. They expressed their frustration by saying, “Alabama hasn’t had meaningful pro-gun legislation passed in over 6 years.” They urged their members to contact the House leadership and House Public Safety Committee chair Rep. Treadaway and the Senate leadership and Senate Judiciary Committee chair Sen. Whatley. This is a great time to consider doing the same, or to contact your state representatives. Next week, the Alabama Senate Judiciary Committee will be considering new legislation to eliminate the need for a license to carry guns and assault weapons. The NRA justifies this bill because it eliminates “government red tape or delays.” They don’t consider safety, only their real objective of selling more guns.
The NRA asked their members to contact the committee. Gun safety supporter can take this opportunity to offset the power of the NRA to oppose gun restriction and contact member of the Senate Judiciary Committee and urge them to oppose SB5.
