Rhode Island: Hearing scheduled for 3/19 on numerous gun bills

A hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, 3/19 on 12 good gun safety bills and one NRA bill. NRA alerted their gun nuts to attend, to make their voices heard. Hopefully as many gun sense people will attend. If not able to attend, a phone call is very effective.

The Bills

👍House Bill 5021 would require adult supervision when a minor uses a gun.
👍House Bill 5022 would make it unlawful to bring rifles, shotguns and assault weapons in your car or on your person, with certain exceptions.
👍House Bill 5172 would make purchasing or selling shotguns and assault weapons unlawful under the age of 21, except for hunting or training.
👍House Bill 5332 would not allow schools to give bonuses to teacher who have a license to carry weapons.
👍House Bill 5703 would ban the manufacture or sale of “ghost guns” or plastic guns.
👍House Bill 5728 would raise the age to 21 for possession of guns.
👍House Bill 5739 would prohibit ammunition magazines from holding more than 10 rounds.
👍House Bill 5740 would require the safe storage of guns.
👍House Bill 5741 would outlaw possession or sale of unregistered assault weapons.
👍House Bill 5752 would require reporting of lost or stolen guns to the police department.
👍House Bill 5762 would prohibit guns within 300 feet of schools.  Two exceptions are for property unloaded and locked guns and for authorities.
👍House Bill 5786 would prohibit the manufacture or possession of 3D plastic guns.
👎House Bill 5497 would allow anyone to outfit themselves with guns during an evacuation.

Action

The meeting is Tuesday March 19 at around 3:30 pm in Room 101 with the House Committee on Judiciary. If not attending, please make a quick call to the office of your State Representative. Ask for support of all the gun reform bills before the Judiciary Committee except for opposition to HB 5497.
