Rhode Island Alert: Safe schools act interfaith rally Tuesday (6/11)

This alert is from Rhode Island Coalition Against Gun Violence

Don’t Let Gun Lobby Win Again

Please take 2 hours out of your busy schedule to attend the

Safe Schools Act Interfaith Rally

RI State House THIS TUESDAY, June 11th at 3PM

There are just days before our leaders go home for the summer and after six years of waiting, the Safe Schools Act has still not been scheduled for a vote. We cannot allow another year to go by because legislative leaders are afraid of the gun lobby and refuse to allow  a vote on this bill.

We will meet in the rotunda and hear from bill sponsors Representative Grace Diaz and Senator Harold Metts, Reverend Liz Lerner Maclay of First Unitarian Church, Rabbi Goldwasser of Temple Sinai, Reverend Jamie Washam of First Baptist Church, and youth organizer Ysanel Torres.

82% of Rhode Islanders are in favor of prohibiting guns in schools

Please WEAR ORANGE, bring signs and join with students, parents, teachers, faith leaders, public safety officials, medical professionals, artists and everyone in between to make it loud and clear to RI lawmakers at the State House!
