Oklahoma: A bill to eliminate gun licenses is before a House committee

Fortunately, last year Governor Mary Fallin vetoed the bill to eliminate the need for a license to walk around with loaded guns. First thing this year, the NRA is pushing the bill again because they now have a conservative Republican Governor, Kevin Stitt. The NRA is asking members to contact committee members in support of this bill. So, we ask you to call and oppose the bill.

The bill is to be heard by the House Public Safety Committee Thursday (2/07).

The Bill

👎House Bill 2597 would allow anyone to carry a loaded handgun in public, openly or concealed, without a permit, safety training or background check.

Please make a quick call to Rep. Justin Humphrey (Chair) (405) 557-7382. Ask to have your comments put in the record of the Public Safety Committee as being against HB 2597 which would do away with licenses to carry guns. Oklahoma with its lax gun laws is already consistently one of the top ten most dangerous states in the Country.
