Minnesota: Committee votes down adding gun sensible language

Guns Not Requlated

Attempts to include language for gun safety measures to SF 802 failed Tuesday when the Judiciary/Public Safety Conference Committee voted it down. The gun safety measures would have closed the gun show loophole for background checks and created a “red flag” law. The failure, due to opposition from the NRA and their gun fanatic members, demonstrates once again how political pressure beats common sense in Minnesota.

The Language

👍 House File 8 would have required background checks on all private sales of guns, including at gun shows.

👍 House File 9 would have created a “red flag” or Extreme Risk Protection Orders bill that would allow family and authorities to request the removal of guns from a dangerous person.
