Illinois: A bill is active to stop the easy sale of guns to gangs

a gun show table

We all are aware of Chicago’s terribly high murder rate; most of it among young men with easy access to guns. Illegal street dealers simple load up on guns in nearby Indiana and sell them to gang members on the streets of Chicago. This bill attempts to stem this flow of guns by requiring the sales go through an authorized gun dealer who can verify the legality of the sale. To citizens concerned about street violence, please take this opportunity to make a change and help support this bill. Likely, the full House will vote on this soon.

The Bill

👍 House Amendment 1 to House Bill 96 would require that all private transfers of guns go through a licensed dealer and also tighten up the requirements to obtain a Firearm Owner’s Identification Card.
