Colorado: The “Red Flag” bill passed the House on to the Senate, Friday, March 15.

Protect kids sign

Some gun nuts fume so strongly about this gun safety bill that two counties declared themselves “gun sanctuaries.”  These gun lovers care little about removing guns from dangerous people for just one year – as the “Red Flag” law would do. This is what the NRA told their members about this bill: “If there was ever a time you thought about getting involved, NOW is that time”. Therefore, concerned citizens also need to get involved. We also need to contact our State Senator to support this bill.

The Bill

👍House Bill 1177 would create Extreme Risk Protection orders or “red flag” legislation. It would allow families and certain other individuals to request that guns be removed from a dangerous person for a year.

Please make a “quick call” to the offices of your State Senator. Ask that they support House Bill 1177. If available to attend, the committee meeting is Friday March 15 at 10:00 am in Room 357. The Senate State, Veterans, and Military Affairs Committee will consider the bill. A presence of gun safety advocates will help offset the NRA member presence.

  • Enter your zip code at The League of Women Voters to find your representatives and senators.
  • From the Indivisible Guide 2.0: Coordinated calls. Calls are a light lift, but can have an impact. Organize your local group to barrage your MoCs [legislators] with calls at an opportune moment about and on a specific issue.
  • To leverage the impact – forward this on to another concerned citizen.
